Life is full of troubles. Sometimes is it crushingly difficult. Life has a way of throwing us zingers—bounced checks, Chernobyl diapers, and flat tires; are bad enough, but what about when these zingers are even bigger and harder to bear?
What if you’ve lost a job or a loved one? Or what if you are going through a horribly painful divorce? What if you’ve just heard bad news from your doctor or your home is being repossessed? What do you do with these painful circumstances?
What can YOU do when life is too hard to live?
I think there are four things that you can do today that will keep you from sinking into hopeless despair or worse yet, away from GOD.
- Keep your eyes on The Almighty. Because we are eternal beings, we need to keep our eyes on the eternal Kingdom. This earthly kingdom and all of its troubles will all go away someday. But, God’s Kingdom will never cease. It goes on forever—with us in it! So, when we look to Father, our eyes are able to see past our earthly plight and all the way to the eternal.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to help. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is our comforter and guide. We can do nothing without His help.
- Dig into your ‘grit’ reserves and keep going. The Holy Spirit is partnering with us to make it through the trouble and pain unscathed. That means we have got to work hard, we have got to work smart, we have got to work with the Spirit of GOD.
Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witness surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
- Genesis 50:20 says, “What Satan has meant for evil against me, God meant it for good in order to bring about the present result.”
The trouble-darts that the enemy is throwing at you right now are meant to bring you down—to pull you away from God—to weaken your faith.
But don’t let them. Let the darts push you closer to GOD. Let them strengthen your faith. Let them allow GOD’s result to happen.
He will help you because HE is so faithful—you can always trust HIM.
